Be the entertainer

If you are planning to host a poker tournament at your house or condo then you should make it a point that everyone enjoys their stay. Why? There are a lot of poker players out there that simply play poker to have fun, not to win. Is this hard to believe? If you are finding this hard to believe then follow this train of thought.
How much do you pay when you go to a bar and meet people? If you are a guy then you are probably going to buy yourself a couple of drinks and try to buy a girl a couple of drinks. If you are a girl then you are probably going to buy clothes that will make guys buy you a drink. All in all, you will be spending a lot of money. How much do you pay for stuff when you go out? That is the question. If you come to think of it, you spend a lot of money trying to entertain yourself every time the weekend comes, right? If you play poker then all you are paying for is the buy in. When you play poker at someone else’s house or someone else’s condo, you are simply paying for the buy in. A buy in is normally not so expensive. Come to think of it, if you simply want to have a good time with other people and if you simply want to meet people then joining a poker invitational from time to time is the way to go. You will not be spending hundreds of dollars on a night out. Instead, you get to hang around people with just a few bucks. Sometimes, the people that you meet in a poker game are more interesting than people that you meet in bars. Think about it. Are you willing to continue spending hundreds of dollars on bar night outs? You may want to do it once in a while. If you are going to do it every weekend then may be you should change your status to millionaire. Going to poker games is an alternative to spending a lot of money on other things. If you are entertained in a poker game then all the money that you spent in your buy in is worth it.
Think about it. If you are hosting a poker game and you are able to entertain a lot of people. Who would want to go to bars and to other entertainment places? May be once in awhile, people would go there but ultimately they would want to spend time at your poker tournaments. If you are a good host and if you are able to entertain a lot of people then people will not mind losing money at your place. If you are able to give off this kind of impression at all your poker tournaments then you will be a favourite. At the end of the day, you will be a winner if you are able to become a good entertainer.
