Watches at the poker table

September 10, 2009

One of the things that is seen a lot at the poker table is your watch. Your watch says a lot about you. Depending on your fashion and your style, your watch is a way of telling the opponents what kind of person you are. Below are some of the impressions that watches give off at the poker table.

If you are wearing a Rolex at the poker table then you are simply telling everyone that you are a rich person. Maybe you like to show off or maybe you like to intimidate people. Maybe you simply like expensive jewellery. As long as you are wearing a Rolex at the poker table, your opponents will simply look at you and think that you are a rich person. Is this an advantage or a disadvantage? It is up to you and it is up to the way you handle the impressions of other people on you.

If you are wearing an Omega watch at the poker table then people will think that you are elegant. From the likes of Cindy Crawford and Pierce Brosnan, wearing an Omega watch will simply give off the impression that you are a classy person. You are either a super model or some James Bond. If you want to give off the classy impression, the impression where you are not bothered by distractions and you simply want to show yourself elegantly then wearing an Omega watch will do the trick. Is this an advantage or a disadvantage? Again, impression management is up to you.

If you are wearing a Tag Heuer watch then you are giving off the impression of the classy sporty type of person. You are showing people that you are willing to take risks but at the same time, you have control over matters at hand. If you are going to wear a Tag Heuer watch then people can get a glimpse of your risky but controlled attitude. Does this help your game? Again, this is up to you.

There are a lot more watches out there and it would simply be impossible to enumerate all of them here. Your cue when it comes to watches is to find out how they are branded. The branding of the watch has a lot to do with the person wearing it. If you want to make sure that you are giving off the right impression when it comes to your watch then you have to pay attention to how it is branded in media. You have to pay attention to how people react to it. You have to pay attention to how the watch reflects your poker personality. If you are having trouble selecting a watch that suits your poker personality then why not wear no watch at all? In this way, you will have no problem branding yourself at the poker table. You will have no problem being seen as this or that. Is this an advantage at the poker table or not? Again, this is your decision to make.
